Roll Up Evaluations

Linking Form A to Form B

Evaluation is often a multi-step process involving related forms. For example, preliminary data may be collected from faculty on one form (A) to then be collated and summarized by the course director on another form (B).

EvalCGI provides a mechanism to "roll up" data from form A for presentation on form B (see example at right). The form A data appears in a column to the right of each question on form B. If form A is not anonymous, the names of evaluators appear next to the scores and comments they submitted (identities are obscured in this example). A larger screen shot is also available.

Setup

To use this feature successfully, you must adhere to these guidelines:

  • Form A and form B must be together in the same directory.
  • All questions on form A must appear in the same location on form B.
  • Additional questions may be added to form B, but only after all the roll up questions are accounted for.
  • The forms must be linked by adding the 'rollup' flag to form B. For example, 'rollup=form-a' will link to the data associated with form-a.etx.
